Our in-house comps are back

Exciting news!. We are delighted to announce that we will be holding our first in-house kids and teens Jiu Jitsu competition for 2024.

Our last competition was a resounding success which not only provided our rangatahi with valuable experience, but also a chance to show their parents and whānau how far they’ve progressed. Competition is the ultimate test and those who entered showed a lot of bravery taking that first step. We believe competitions provide a unique experience and anyone registered in the kids or teens BJJ classes can enter.

We’ll have separate divisions for kids and teens. We may also have friendly matches between the winners of the kids and the winner of the teens divisions if the competitors are interested. After the matches have finished, there will be a prizegiving, grading presentations also followed by pizza for all competitors.

The ruleset (found here) is like the last competition but in addition, we will allow some submissions. The rules will be printed and given to the competitors, and we will go over them with the competitors on the day before it starts.

Competitors will be required to wear a clean, presentable Gi (uniform) and belt, so please buy one if you don’t have one already. If you are not wearing the Gi on the day, you will not be allowed to compete. Please see the gym if you don’t have a Gi and need a loan one.  Mouthguards can be worn but they are optional.

Competitors will only be registered when paid.
